Pumpkin CVC Game

Updated: Dec 31, 2020

Here is a throwback Thursday.

I love using games to reinforce lessons at home. I also love all things fall, Halloween and pumpkins. So I combined these things into this cute game when my son was learning to read.

It started as a file folder game because those were all the rage when I taught in public schools many years ago. But it evolved and became a matching game too. Mostly because my son didn't like to put the pumpkins into the file folder.

My son loves to match the words to the pictures. Grabbing the craft sticks is also good for his grasping skills. Bonus!

To help keep this game organized, I gave him a block of Styrofoam that he can use as a pumpkin patch. He can plug the craft sticks into the foam and pull out the matches. This would make a fun way to use this game in a literacy center.

There is also the option to use it as a file folder game. This is perfect for a take it to your seat game. In this game, you place the pumpkins in their field based on the word endings. You can use the pictures or the words for this game.

If you like fall as much as I do, you will want this game for your beginning readers. You can find it in my store on Teachers Pay Teachers.

Happy Fall Y'all
